La información es un derecho humano incuestionable como incuestionable es el derecho a la intimidad. En el artículo 19 de la Declaración Universal de los Derechos Humanos se anota que toda persona tiene derecho a buscar, difundir y recibir informaciones. Informar es transmitir a un sujeto externo algo que le permite formarse, no tiene nada que ver con la opinión ni con la libertad de expresión. Intimidad es el derecho que tiene toda persona a desarrollar su existencia en su soledad existencial o en compañía de otros individuos. La condición que permite a una persona excluir a los otros sujetos hace que la intimidad no pueda ser invadida sin el consentimiento de la persona, ese derecho de exclusión incluye a los periodistas y al derecho de información. El derecho de interés público es entendido como un hecho o acontecimiento que afecta de forma positiva o negativa al grupo social. El derecho a la información tiene su límite en la vida privada de los ciudadanos. El problema surge cuando se confunde el interés público con la curiosidad y en nombre del Derecho de Información se invade la esfera de la intimidad (pseudoinformación).

Being informed is a human right, as unquestionable is the right of intimacy. The 19th article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights says that every person has the right to search for, diffuse and receive information. To inform is to transmit to an external being something which allows contributes to the formation of that being. Intimacy is the right that every person has to develop his/her existence in his/her existencial solitude or in the company of other individuals. The condition that allows a person to exclude others implies that intimacy can not be violated without the concernment of the person, this inviolability includes the press and other individuals right of receiving information. Rights of public interest are understood to affect, positively or negatively, the entire social group. The right of information is limited by the private life of each individual. The problem arises when public interest is confused with curiosity and in the name of the right of information, intimacy is disturbed (pseudoinformation).

Es estudiada la participación de ahogamiento en el contexto de las muertes por causas externas, en la Región Metropolitana del Salvador, en el período de 1990-95, motivado por las condiciones geográficas que esta región presenta, por ser borde marítimo. Se analizan datos conseguidos del Sistema de la Información sobre Mortalidad del Ministerio de la Salud DATASUS. Fue observado que el ahogamiento contribuye con casi 7% del total de muertes por causas externas, ocupando el tercer lugar entre estos, viniendo por debajo solamente de "otras violencias " y de homicidios. Llama la atención, en los datos analizados, el predominio del ahogamiento sobre los accidentes de tráfico como causa de la mortalidad y, advierte la necesidad de adoptar un método educativo y de seguridad para refrenar su ocurrencia.

lt is studied participation of the drowning in the context of the deaths for extemal causes, in the Region Metropolitan of Salvador, the period of 1990-95, motivate by the geographic condítions that this region presents, of the maritime edge. They are analyzed given gotten of the " System of Information on Mortality ", of the Health department - DATASUS. lt was observed that the drowning contributes almost with 7% of the total of deaths for external causes, occupying 32 place between these, come below only of "other violences " and homicides. Flame attention, in the data analyzed, the prevalence of the drowning on the traffic accidents as mortality cause and, warns for the necessity of if adopting measured educational and security to restrain its occurrence.
