La enseñanza de la Medicina Legal se imparte en Costa Rica desde el Siglo XIX y tiene su cuna en la Escuela de Derecho y Colegio de Abogados. Desde 1961 se imparte en la Escuela de Medicina de la Universidad de Costa Rica y en ese mismo año se crea el Departamento de Medicina Legal. Se describe la conformación de este último y cuales son sus funciones a través de su organigrama.

The teaching of forensic medicine is imparted in Costa Rica since the XIXth century having its cradle in Law School and College of Lawyers. Since 1961 it is imparted in the School Medicine of the University of Costa Rica and in this year the Department of the Legal Medicine is created. The forming of this Department is described and which are its functions through its flowchart.

En este ensayo se hace revisión de la Ley de Riesgos del Trabajo y los encargos que hace al Departamento de Medicina Legal en la valoración del daño y la aplicación de las tablas o baremos que rigen para la reubicación e invalidez. También se hace un análisis de las principales causas de invalidez observadas por el Consejo Médico Forense, concluyendo que los baremos favorecen más a las aseguradoras que al trabajador.

In this essay, is review the 6727 law of works risk and the job of the Legal Medicine Department in the damage value, and the use of tables (Baremes) to diagnostic the handicap of the worker. Too, we study the principal items saw by the Forensic Medical Council, ending that the benefits for the secure companies is better than the benefits that the workers get.

Eutanasia: del griego "eu: bueno y thanathos: muerte", vocablo acuñado por el inglés Francis Bacon en el siglo XVII al estudiar el tratamiento de las enfermedades incurables. Se hace un análisis amplio desde el punto de vista dogmático y del Derecho comparado, enfatizándose en detalle la legislación de Costa Rica, Panamá y El Salvador y se definen claramente los roles del Estado como constitucional del Derecho de la Vida y la Muerte, del rol médico en la eutanasia y de los derechos del paciente.

Euthanasia from the arcele "eu: good; thanathos: death". A word adopted by the English Sir Francis Bacon in the Fith Century as he studied the treatment of incuraba diseases. This essay analites this topic from the dogmatic point of view and from compared law, especially in the regulations of Costa Rica, El Salvador and Panama. The roll of the state is clearly defined as constitutive of the right of life and the right of death and the roll of the doctor in the euthanasia and the patient`s rights.
